How to Practice TWIM

Tranquil Wisdom Insight Meditation (TWIM) is based on the Buddha’s original meditation instructions found in the  Suttas and popularized by Bhante Vimalaramsi, an American Buddhist monk. Unlike most other meditations, TWIM emphasizes a relaxed-gentle awareness combined with a heartfelt feeling loving-kindness.

 

TWIM is a gentle and effective method that developments calm mental clarity and deep insight leading to wisdom and freedom of mind. TWIM uses the feeling of loving-kindness in meditation to cultivate tranquility and insight equally joined together along with a system of dealing with distraction and stress reactions

 

The practice distinguishes itself through its unique method of how to deal with distracting thoughs. sometimes called the monkey mind. Rather than trying to stop thoughts or forcing concentration, TWIM teaches how to release and disssolve distractions resulting in a calm, clear mind.
