Experienced Instructors

Retreats are guided by seasoned TWIM teachers who combine deep personal practice with extensive training in the lineage of Bhante Vimalaramsi. Each instructor has devoted thousands of hours to meditation, both in retreat and daily life, and brings years of study of the early Buddhist texts (suttas). Their guidance reflects not only theoretical knowledge but lived experience of the path, including direct familiarity with the jhānas, dependent origination, and the awakening factors that are developed in meditation. 

They have trained directly with Bhante, ensuring continuity with the original teachings and methods he revived. Teachers also provide warmth, accessibility, and practical insight—balancing knowledge the Dhamma with compassion for the individual needs of every participant. Above all, they create an environment that instills confidence and trust in their own capacity to progress and realize awakening for themselves.

What you will need. . .

  1. A quiet, comfortable, and distraction-free space for seated practice on a chair or pillow
  2. A safe nearby indoor or outdoor area for short periods of walking meditation used in combination with seated practice
  3. A reliable internet connection for Zoom meetings
  4. An open schedule with little to no obligations for the duration of the retreat
  5. If possible, have meals prepared ahead of time
  6. Arrive rested and fully committed to listen, learn, ask questions, and ready to give your yourself the gift of wisdom

Daily Group Meetings

Group meetings will provide detailed instructions practice key TWIM principles. There will be group meetings on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with one-on-one private instruction following group calls. Exact times will be provided prior to the start of the retreats.

Topics include:

  • Introduction to the TWIM practice 
  • How to deal with meditation distractions 
  • Meetings include Q&A for skill development, analysis, commentary, and group discussion.
Interviews are conducted one-on-one privately with your instructor.

Daily Personal Private Interviews

Progress in meditation is dynamic. Private one-on-one interviews with your instructor provides specific actionable feedback to facilitate your meditation practice.  Interviews will be held after the group call, exacts times will be scheduled in advance. 

These interviews provide personal guidance to address your specific needs and circumstances. Your feedback will inform your instructor how to optimize your meditation practice.

  • Report your experiences and receive feedback and guidance on how to continue your practice
  • Identify particular concerns or recurring barriers and what to do next
  • Ask questions that may arise during the retreat 

3 Day Zoom Retreat Summary

Payments and Refunds

This retreat is hosted by Tranquil Wisdom Insight Meditation, a California 501c3 non-profit charitable organization. Instructors and the teachings are offered freely, by unpaid volunteers, as a service to the community. 

The one-time $25 fee helps to cover administrative and direct expenses. 

  1. If the retreat is cancelled for reasons beyond our control, payments made will be refunded.
  2. Cancellations less than 14 days before the retreat are not refundable. Unused registration fees may be applied toward the registration fees for future 3-Day Retreats for up to six months following the cancellation. Unused registration fees may be donated if desired.
