Retreat Basics
TWIM retreats are structured courses for learning and development guided by trained and dedicated Instructors. Participants at all levels of meditative experience receive instruction and support to optimize learning and progress smoothly in the stages of awakening.
One-on-one daily insturtor interviews provide every participants with personalized and detailed coaching. Foundations for retreats include:
- Maintain an ethical code of conduct (sīla). It is a necessary foundation for steady mind and calm body.
- Learn and practice the”the four right efforts” as taught by the Buddha by using the Six Rs methodology—a cornerstone of early Buddhist practices.
- Develop sublime benevolence with loving-kindness (metta) compassion, altruistic joy, and equanimity (Brahmaviharas).
- Experience the stages of meditation (jhāna) leading to tranquility (samatha), natural stillness (samādhi) and insight (vipassanā). . . leading to awakening (nirvāṇa) (Pali: nibbāna).
