Foundations of TWIM Retreats
TWIM retreats are structured meditation courses designed for systematic learning and development. Trained and certified instructors guide each retreat. Therefore, participants at all levels of meditation experience receive clear instruction and ongoing support. This structure helps students progress smoothly through the stages of awakening.
Moreover, daily one-on-one interviews provide personalized guidance and detailed feedback. As a result, practice is refined and obstacles are addressed early.
The foundations of TWIM retreats include:
Ethical conduct (sīla): Participants maintain a clear code of behavior. This stabilizes the mind and supports calm awareness.
Right Effort with the Six Rs: Students learn the Four Right Efforts using the Six Rs method. This approach forms a core principle of early Buddhist practice.
Cultivation of the Brahmavihāras: Practice develops loving-kindness (mettā), compassion, altruistic joy, and equanimity.
Stages of meditation (jhāna): Participants experience tranquility (samatha), natural stillness (samādhi), and insight (vipassanā), leading toward awakening (nibbāna).
Together, these elements create a reliable path for deepening meditation, strengthening wisdom, and integrating practice into daily life.
This technique is unique in that it combines #Vipassana (contraction/concentration) with #DoNothing Meditation (letting go) and Metta (Loving Kindness) to strike the perfect balance between effort and effortless, intention and surrendering.
